R.I.P. Dick Clark

Thank you for all the Saturday mornings on American Bandstand.
Thank you for all the New Years Rockin' Eve celebrations.
Before there was an MTV, VH1 or YouTube, it was you who showed us The Next Big Thing.
You will be missed by every music-loving kid who was lucky enough to have you introduce
their next favorite artist or band to them through the television.
Rest in peace, Mr. Clark... The Bandstand won't be the same without you.

Vinyl Therapy: 1950s & 60s Fun

Five hot new-old scores (at 89 cents a piece) from The Salvation Army.
The Cha Cha Cha album sounds EVERY BIT as festive as the cover would have you believe.

Vinyl Therapy: 1960s Fun

Included in this batch is a Kay Starr LP that my trusty pal Steve bought for me while we were flea marketing in Pennsylvania.  Though I bought another record by this class act a few years ago, the depth of her gift wasn't quite as vivid to me as it there is on this particular record.  I'm hooked... Thanks, Steve!

Vintage Vinyl: Sock It To Me!

More 1960s vinyl (and one piece from the 1950s) from this weekend's flea market visits.  Many of these items came from one woman's rather pristine 1960s rock, folk and R&B collection.  Each LP had the name "Betty" neatly scripted somewhere on the front or back cover in pencil.  Luckily, these markings were easily removed, some cash was handed over and Betty's records became mine.

Vintage Treasure: Beatles & Blake

It's one thing to find a nice, clean copy of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper on vinyl, but it's ANOTHER thing to find this 44-year-old masterpiece in phenomenal shape WITH the 12 inch square cardboard insert showcasing Peter Blake's uniquely illustrated souvenir character cutouts completely intact.

I think I have to give this vintage flea market find a HELL YES!
