R.I.P. Dick Clark

Thank you for all the Saturday mornings on American Bandstand.
Thank you for all the New Years Rockin' Eve celebrations.
Before there was an MTV, VH1 or YouTube, it was you who showed us The Next Big Thing.
You will be missed by every music-loving kid who was lucky enough to have you introduce
their next favorite artist or band to them through the television.
Rest in peace, Mr. Clark... The Bandstand won't be the same without you.

Vintage Swag For Sale

Some things live outside of space and time and become a part of our overall awareness of where we have been as a culture.  It still amuses me that I use digital cameras and the internet to share items that existed long before there was a computer in every home.  As a side note, it also occurred to me that I've enjoyed photographing such items moreso than collecting them as of late... This, of course, happens when you've just about reached your ceiling of what you want to bring home and display for yourself and others to enjoy. Items can be bought, sold and given away, but pictures remain.

Things I Saw And Did This Week

I soaked up some fun vintage graphics, remixing a few for my Instagram and Tumblr feed.

In addition, I enjoyed the premiere of Madonna's "Girl Gone Wild" video...

Saw some excellent roadside items...

Captured some stylish moments at my ever so colorful workplace...

Arranged some reference for new mixed media drawings...

Spent some time watching things beginning their bloom at Scott's house...

Watched Heathers for the first time in years and enjoyed its darkly comic genius...

And, of course, spent some time flipping through and listening to vinyl (both new and old).
